Netflix has announced a release date for the ‘Sense8’ series wrap-up movie. The highly-anticipated conclusion to the saga of the ‘Sense8’ cluster will be revealed on Friday June 8, when the two-hour movie hits Netflix.
In addition to setting a date, Netflix released the poster below.
The series was canceled after two seasons but was revived after fans petitioned to save the show — a move that surprised co-creator Lana Wachowski.
In a little penned to fans after the cancellation reversal was announced, Wachowski said:
“In this world it is easy to believe that you cannot make a difference; that when a government or an institution or corporation makes a decision, there is something irrevocable about the decision; that love is always less important than the bottom line. While it is often true those decisions are irreversible, it is not always true.”
The drama, which follows a “cluster” of eight sensates (people who are mentally and emotionally linked from around the globe) wrapped up its second season with a cliffhanger with Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) captured by the mysterious corporation BPO. Fingers crossed he’ll make it out alive — for now, at least he appears in the official poster for the series finale.
In the series finale, which was commissioned four weeks after Netflix gave the two-season drama the axe, “personal lives are pushed aside as the cluster, their sidekicks, and some unexpected allies band together for a rescue mission and BPO take-down in order to protect the future of all Sensates.”
The previously release featurette below features the cast back together, thankful for the opportunity to give fans of the show some closure.
The series finale of ‘Sense8’ will stream on Netflix on Friday, June 8th.
