This Brings A Smile To My Face

Right when you least expected it, we’re back at it again with an all new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! This week things are a little bit light on the toy news front, and that is okay! Sometimes ‘more’ doesn’t necessarily mean better, and this week’s few new reveals are all pretty top notch and worth celebrating on their own! This week we’ve got some new ‘Infinity War’ collectibles, the aftermath of the ‘Alien Day’ holiday, and a few other odds and ends! There’s loads to see in the toy news for the week of May 1st, 2018!

More ‘Infinity War’ Minimates Inbound

First off, let us start by saying a collective “WOW” in reaction to Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ which opened in theaters this past weekend and demolished nearly every box office record! With that in mind, it probably shouldn’t be a huge surprise to hear we are getting another wave of awesome new ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ themed Minimates from our friends at Diamond Select Toys!

We first mentioned this wave a few weeks back when images leaked of the Walgreens Exclusive wave, but now we have actual confirmation from DST themselves, as well as another wave that will be heading to comic shops and specialty stores! The Walgreens Wave features exclusive Minimates 2-packs of Gamora with Drax and War Machine with Cull Obsidian, while comic shops and specialty stores will receive Minimate an exclusive set of Black Panther with Ebony Maw! All stores receiving these waves will receive sets that feature Captain America with Falcon and Hulkbuster Armor with Corvus Glaive. These are due to hit stores today on May 1st!

Disney Store Gets New Marvel Select Exclusives

The 7″ scale Marvel Select figure line from Diamond Select Toys is as popular as ever and seems to be showing no signs of slowing down! This week our friends at DST announced two new figures for the line that will be available exclusively at Disney Stores and on ShopMarvel.com!

The new figures are an updated comic book styled Thanos (which features an non-helmeted alternative head and is wielding the Infinity Gauntlet!) and a new ‘Unmasked’ Spider-Man figure from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (which includes alternative hands and a rooftop diorama display base, but sadly no alternative regular masked head)! These are both hitting stores now with an MSRP of $24.99.

*Facepalm*

There are so many moments in popular culture that we wish could be permanently captured in our collection displays, but perhaps so few of them are handled quite as well as this latest exclusive from ThinkGeek. The team at ThinkGeek have announced an all new exclusive ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Mini-bust of Facepalming Captain Jean-Luc Picard! This resin bust is being produced for ThinkGeek by Icon Heroes and will be a limited release with only 1602 of them being made! If you’d like to add one to your collection it will only set you back around $64.99, so why wait? The ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Captain Jean-Luc Picard Facepalming Mini-bust is available now.

Hulk-Bustin Makes Me Feel Good

We’re sure you’re tired of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ already, but we’ve barely touched on the tip of the iceberg when it comes to awesome new Marvel collectibles! The team at Hot Toys announced an all new top notch collectible this week in the form of the new 1:6th scale Hulkbuster 2.0 ‘Power Pose’ figure! Based on the Hulkbuster Iron Man Armor’s appearance in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, this ‘Power Pose’ figure is kind of a whole new bag of tricks! It features all of the insane detail you’ve come to expect from Hot Toys, but the ‘Power Pose’ figures are vinyl and only have very light articulation (6 points in this case; head, arms, wrists, and waist) so that Hot Toys is able to produce items of a much larger size than usual to collectors for a lesser cost than if they were produced like most other Hot Toys figures. To make it a little more worthwhile, Hot Toys has thrown in 18 light up LED points on this massive 19.7″ tall figure! An actual price for this figure hasn’t posted yet, but you can check out the full release info from Hot Toys below!

Avengers: Infinity War- 1:6 Power Pose Hulkbuster Collectible

The long awaited Avengers: Infinity War has finally hit the big screen. Ten years in the making, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to a head when its super heroes come together for battle against the Mad Titan himself. As one of the most powerful suits in Iron Man’s arsenal, the Hulkbuster armor is coming back to protect Wakanda from Thanos’s invading army! In response to the immense fame of this enormous machine, Hot Toys is thrilled to officially introduce today the spectacular Hulkbuster 1/6th scale Power Pose collectible figure, which has been eagerly awaited by fans after it made its debut at the Avengers: Infinity War exhibition powered by Hot Toys.

The screen authentic vinyl-made collectible figure under Power Pose series is specially crafted based on the appearance of Hulkbuster in Avengers: Infinity War. This colossal figure stands approximate 50cm tall with 18 LED light-up functions scattered throughout the armor with awesome details, it is meticulously painted in iconic metallic red, gold and silver with weathering effect, two pairs of interchangeable hands including a pair of fist and a pair of relaxing hands, semi-articulated body with the ability to perform head, arms, wrist and waist movements. Marvel fans, be sure to prepare room for the gigantic beautifully designed armor machine for your massive Avengers: Infinity War display!

*Free Hugs*

While information is kind of scarce for the time being, last week we celebrated ‘Alien Day’ (4/26, in honor of LV-426, which was the colony from the film ‘ALIENS’) and the team at Quantum Mechanix released a preview of the newest figure in their Q-Fig line; an Alien Ovomorph and Facehugger! There aren’t any full images yet, but this new stylized statuesque collectible figure is expected to release this July and give ‘ALIENS’ fans something new to scream about!

The team at Funko and our friends at Entertainment Earth are rarely ones to leave us hanging, so they teamed up to announce an all new Entertainment Earth exclusive Funko POP! Vinyl to celebrate the special occasion! The newest Entertainment Earth Funko POP! exclusive is the 8-Bit Retro Game Colored Alien Xenomorph Funko POP! Vinyl! This figure is done in the 8-Bit POP! Style and features the colors the Aliens were seen in way back in the retro ‘ALIENS’ video game! This figure is up for pre-order now and releases this June!

“I Hope They Remember You”

This week Funko has teamed up with Target stores yet again for another retailer exclusive just in time for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’!
