Dark Horse Is Working With Netflix To Bring Us More ‘Stranger Things’

If the next season of ‘Stranger Things‘ and the upcoming novels aren’t enough, you’ll be thrilled to learn that we’ll have another way to visit Hawkins, Indiana! This time, in comic form.

Although Netflix has already purchased Mark Millar’s comic publishing company Millarworld, it almost seems like a surprise that they’d be going to Dark Horse Comics to create this content. Of course, if you’re looking to read horror comics, we all know that Dark Horse is the place to go with everything from Mike Mignola’s work, to ‘Harrow County,’ and more!

According to Dark Horse President Mike Richardson:

“Dark Horse is known for championing stories and storytellers. We are so excited to work with Netflix to bring the world of Stranger Things to comics.”

This partnership will give the company “a multi-year publishing line” that will kick off this September. While the books will somewhat follow the story, we already know it will also have an opportunity to explore the mysterious world of Hawkins, Indiana and plans on expanding the world of Hawkins and its many inhabitants.

The book is being put together by Jody Houser (‘Faith’,’Orphan Black’), penciller Stefano Martino (‘Legs Weaver’,’Nathan Never’), inker Keith Champagne (‘JSA’,’Superboy’), colorist Lauren Affe (‘Rebels’,’Five Ghosts’), and letterer Nate Piekos (‘Briggs Land’,’Green Arrow’).

The fun part is this will also give us a better look at The Upside Down:

Stranger Things #1 (of four issues) follows Will Byers as he enters a dimension of decay and destruction where he must use his wits and resolve to dodge the pursuit of the Demogorgon and escape the Upside Down. Stranger Things #1 features a cover by artist Aleksi Briclot (New Avengers, Maskemane) with three variant covers, one each from Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire, Blue Beetle), visual artist Kyle Lambert, and a photo-variant cover designed by Patrick Satterfield and Netflix.

Now that sounds pretty amazing if you ask me!

As a bonus, Dark Horse has also provided two preview panels for the first issue which you can find below!

Are you looking forward to further expanding your insight into the world of ‘Stranger Things’? Do you think that getting a better look at The Upside Down through a comic is the best way to see what Will ended up going through? Share your thoughts below!

Stuart Conover is a father, husband, blogger, published author, geek, entrepreneur, editor of Horror Tree, horror fanatic, science fiction junkie, lives in a world of comics, and a casual gamer (all of this when his wife lets him of course.) He fell in love with science fiction and horror at the same time while watching the movie Alien at probably far too young of an age while still being extremely impressionable and has been happily obsessed with both since! Around the same time he had also developed an unhealthy addiction to comic books that continues to this day!
