Toy News Tuesday: Beast Mode

Once again we are back with a brand spanking new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! We’re midway through September and things are relatively quiet on the toy front. This may seem kind of odd at first, but when you factor in that we are only three weeks away from New York Comic Con it comes are no surprise at all! While we are sure there are a number of announcements being held back for a reveal at NYCC, there is still plenty to be seen in the Toy News for the week of September 18th, 2018!

First Look: ‘Captain Marvel’ Movie Figures

While we’re still a solid six months out from the release of Marvel’s latest comic book adaptation ‘Captain Marvel’, we are getting our first look at the film’s accompanying action figures from Hasbro’s 6″ scale Marvel Legends line thanks to Instagram user ToyShiz . Figures confirmed include our titular heroine Captain Marvel, plus Nick Fury, Skrull Commander Talos, and a Kree Soldier! Each figure looks to include a build-a-figure piece for the comic-styled Kree Sentry we saw back at SDCC this summer, so we will hopefully find out what other figures will fill out this wave soon! Welcome To The DC Universe

This technically barely falls under the toys and collectibles category, but we thought it was worth mentioning that the DC Universe subscription streaming service went live this past weekend! This service allows subscribers to access streaming of tons of DC Comics movies and television series, plus digital comics and more! More specifically, subscribers to the new DC Universe streaming service have access to a special online store where they can purchase a number of collectibles directly from DC themselves; including the exclusive ‘Justice League Animated’ 6″ toyline!

This exclusive line consists of eight figures; Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. Each figure is priced at $28, although a bundle is available that includes all eight figures for $194 for completionists that want to save a few bucks! The DC Universe subscription service itself is priced at $7.99 per month, or you can pay for a full year up-front for $74.99.
