‘Stargirl’ Casts Meg DeLacy As Archenemy Shiv, Plus Jake Austin Walker In A Mystery Role

It turns out that on the ‘Stargirl’ TV series coming to DC Universe, the lead character, Courtney Whitmore, will be taking on her archenemy from the comics, Shiv, also known as Cindy Burman.  Described as “Blue Valley High’s most popular student…and its most feared,” Shiv is the daughter of the villain the Dragon King, who will be played by Nelson Lee on the show.  Meg DeLacy has been cast as Cindy/Shiv.  In addition, Jake Austin Walker has joined the cast in a role that is known to be a DC character, but is being kept under wraps.

DeLacy most recently appeared in the recurring role as Grace Mullen on Freeform’s ‘The Fosters’.  Prior to that, she starred on ‘Side Effects’, ‘Recovery Road’, ‘The Disappearing Girl’, and ‘Zac and Mia’.

Brec Bassinger will portray the titular hero on ‘Stargirl’.  Luke Wilson plays her step-father Pat Dugan, who inspires Courtney to take on a superheroic identity, while Joel McHale will play Pat’s former mentor Starman/Sylvester Pemberton.  The cast also includes Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Hourman/Rex Tyler, Neil Hopkins as Sportsmaster/Lawrence Crock, Joy Osmanski as The Tigress/Paula Crock, Brian Stapf as Wildcat/Ted Grant, and Henry Thomas as Doctor Mid-Nite/Charles McNider.  Christopher James Baker, Yvette Monreal and  Anjelika Washington have been cast in undisclosed roles, similarly to Walker.

Speaking of Walker, he most recently starred on the Facebook Watch series ‘Five Points’.  Before that, he starred on the Sundance Channel’s ‘Rectify’.  He has also made appearances on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and ‘Lethal Weapon’.

Though it wasn’t stated who he would be playing, judging strictly based on his red hair, it wouldn’t be surprising if he were portraying Albert Rothstein, also known as Nuklon and Atom-Smasher.  This character is the godson of the Golden Age Atom, who has the ability to change his size and density.  Adam Copeland played a heavily altered version of this character on ‘The Flash’.

‘Stargirl’ is expected to arrive on DC Universe on August 9.

What do you think of the cast so far?

Jax Motes

Jax’s earliest memory is of watching ‘Batman,’ followed shortly by a memory of playing Batman & Robin with a friend, which entailed running outside in just their underwear and towels as capes. When adults told them they couldn’t run around outside in their underwear, both boys promptly whipped theirs off and ran around in just capes.
