Carlos Valdes Might Vibe Out Of ‘The Flash’

Team Flash may be down a man next season, as rumor has it that Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon/Vibe on ‘The Flash’ may depart after the current fifth season.  Reportedly, he is looking to explore “other pastures.”  Along with Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost), Valdes has been part of the series from the start, with both of them debuting in their roles in Season Two of ‘Arrow’ before moving over to ‘The Flash’ when it premiered the following fall.

This news is not 100% confirmed, so obviously it’s unclear that should Valdes depart, how the show will handle it.  But many other cast members of ‘The Flash’, ‘Arrow’, and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ have departed, with the door open for their returns, even in a limited capacity, later down the line.  Valdes has appeared on all four of the Arrowverse shows and lent his voice to the animated spinoffs ‘Vixen’ and ‘The Ray’.

Even so, the loss of Cisco would be substantial to ‘The Flash’, as other than Barry (Grant Gustin), he is probably the most beloved character, with his penchant for wisecracks and assigning names to various superheroes and villains.  In Season Two, Cisco learned that he was a metahuman himself, and as Vibe has proven quite valuable with his ability to create sonic vibrations and open portals to other dimensions.

Valdes was a stage performer, having co-written the musical ‘Me and My Dick’ when he was still attending the University of Michigan.  He has appeared in theatrical productions of ‘High School Musical’, ‘The Wedding Singer’, and ‘Once’ and the touring company of ‘Jersey Boys’.   The role of Cisco was his first TV work.  It may be possible that Valdes simply wants to get back on the stage.  Victor Garber left ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ for the same reason, after landing a role on Broadway in ‘Hello Dolly!’ opposite Bernadette Peters.  Valdes is also branching out into film and is currently shooting the mystery ‘Knives Out’ which stars Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, and Don Johnson.

Keep in mind, this is unconfirmed at this time.  But if it is true, will you still tune in for ‘The Flash’ without Cisco?

Jax Motes

Jax’s earliest memory is of watching ‘Batman,’ followed shortly by a memory of playing Batman & Robin with a friend, which entailed running outside in just their underwear and towels as capes. When adults told them they couldn’t run around outside in their underwear, both boys promptly whipped theirs off and ran around in just capes.
