Aladdin casts Alan Tudyk as the voice of Iago | SciFiNow


Disney regular Alan Tudyk (Firefly‘s Wash) is returning to the House of Mouse for Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin, according to THR. The actor is set to voice Iago, villain Jafar’s parrot sidekick that was originally voiced by Gilbert Gottfriend in the 1992 animated film.

Tudyk’s other recent Disney work includes voicing King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph, Heihei in Moana, KnowsMore in Ralph Breaks The Internet, Duke Weaselton in Zootopia and K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Tudyk joins a cast made up of Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders and Numan Acar as Hakim. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie from a script written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s Aladdin.

Aladdin is produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Marc Platt and Kevin De La Noy serving as executive producers. Alan Menken provides the score, which includes new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and includes two new songs written by Menken, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
