16 New Posters Reveal Who Will “Avenge The Fallen” In ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Avengers: Endgame

Marvel Studios has unleashed a deluge of Avenger-y goodness today!  First, the studio unleashed 16 black and white ‘Avengers: Endgame’ posters, showing the faces of the heroes (and Loki) who died in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, bearing the caption “Avenge The Fallen.”  Now here come 16 more, with the same slogan, plastered over the full-color images of the surviving heroes… and a few friends.

While the characters on the “Fallen” posters were all facing left (their right), the survivors on the new set are facing different directions.  While it makes sense that the surviving Avengers, Rocket, and Nebula got posters, there are a few surprising inclusions.  Valkyrie gets a poster, indicating that Tessa Thompson‘s warrior woman from ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ will be back.  Also featured are Wong (Benedict Wong) and Okoye (Danai Gurira).  Okoye was still present after the snap– who can forget the sheer terror on her face as she watched her King, T’Challa vanish before her eyes?– but Wong’s fate was never addressed.

Both Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) get their own portraits.  Pepper *might* don a suit of armor in ‘Endgame’ but… I don’t think we’re supposed to know that.  Of course, Pepper and Happy debuted in ‘Iron Man’, the very first Marvel Studios movie, so they have a deeper connection to the MCU than most of the other heroes.

One last detail worth noting, Mark Ruffalo appears on his poster as Bruce Banner.  Artwork and toys have shown that he becomes The Hulk again, but then again, he appeared as The Hulk in the ‘Infinity War’ trailers only for it to turn out that this footage was “fake.”  Most likely, The Hulk will return, but for now, it looks as though that’s hush-hush.

Jax’s earliest memory is of watching ‘Batman,’ followed shortly by a memory of playing Batman & Robin with a friend, which entailed running outside in just their underwear and towels as capes. When adults told them they couldn’t run around outside in their underwear, both boys promptly whipped theirs off and ran around in just capes.
