The Walking Dead‘s Sonequa Martin-Green has been going places since she left the zombie show, what with her traversing the universe in Star Trek: Discovery.
But Martin-Green’s next adventure will take her all the way to Looney Tune Land: the actress will officially star alongside basketball star LeBron James and Bugs Bunny in Warner Bros’ Space Jam 2. According to Variety, she’s set to play James’ wife in the film.
As well as playing Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery and Sasha in The Walking Dead, Martin-Green is also known for her roles in shows like Once Upon A Time, The Good Wife, NYC 22 and Army Wives.
Space Jam 2 will see James take over from original Space Jam star Michael Jordan, presumably as himself. In the first film, Jordan was reluctantly pulled back into the world of basketball following his retirement from the sport when Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes needed his help to defeat an alien B-ball team called the MonStars in order to win back their freedom from enslavement.
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is on board to produce the sequel, and Terence Nance (Random Acts Of Flyness) is acting as director. Nance replaced Justin Lin (Star Trek Beyond, Fast & Furious), who was originally attached to direct.
Production on the film is set to start this summer during James’ NBA off-season.
Space Jam 2 is in cinemas from 16 July 2021. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
